Combining populations & measures

Both populations and measures may be grouped. The resulting population or measure can then be used in the same way as any of those readily available in the database. The mean and standard deviation of these populations/measures will be calculated. Note: Combining multiple populations or measures will decrease the reliability of the information.

Combining populations

  1. Click the combined populations button in the left column.
  2. Click the new population button.
  3. Enter a name for the population in the population editing window that appears below the population list.
  4. Select any populations that should be added to the combined population. Note: while the population editing window is open, any populations selected will not become visible in any of the review tables, but instead will be added to the combined population.
  5. If required, do any of the following in the population editing window:
    • Click the x button next to a populaton to remove it from the combined population.
    • Alter the percentage value next to a population to change it's share in any value calculations for the group.
  6. Click the - button in the population editing window to close it. Note: selecting or deselecting populations, including any combined populations, for review and comparison is only possible when the population editing window is closed.
  • To edit a combined population click its name in the combined populations list.
  • To remove a combined population click the x button next to its name in the combined populations list.

Note: any values for a combined population will appear gray in data tables.

Combining measures

  1. Click the combined measures button in the right column.
  2. Click the new measure button.
  3. Enter a name for the measure in the measure editing window that appears below the measure list.
  4. Select any measures that should be added to the combined measure. Note: while the measure editing window is open, any measures selected will not become visible in any of the review tables, but instead will be added to the combined measure. Note: For reliability the number of measures that can be added to a combined measure is limited to two.
  5. If required, do any of the following in the measure editing window:
    • Click the x button next to a measure to remove it from the combined measure.
    • Click the + or - button to toggle between adding and subtracting the measures.
    • Enter a custom correlation value in the correlation field.
  6. Click the - button in the measure editing window to close it. Note: selecting or deselecting measures, including any combined measures, for review and comparison is only possible when the measure editing window is closed.
  • To edit a combined measure click its name in the combined measures list.
  • To remove a combined measure click the x button next to its name in the combined measurse list.

Note: any values for a combined measure will appear gray in data tables.
